Gavin's 5th Birthday Party!

Today was Gavin's 5th Birthday Party at Kevin Moran Park. It was complete with (almost) all his family and friends, a magic show from Magician Patrick, a piñata, water balloons, a BBQ pulled pork picnic lunch, and cupcakes made especially by Gavin. All the things he wished to have.

Of course, the only thing that would have made it the best party ever would have been to have our Ohio family here, but we can celebrate another time.

We are so thankful to have so many great people in our lives. At one point Gavin broke down in tears because he didn't get that much candy from the piñata....immediately all his friends saw that he was upset, and ran to help him. They all were giving him all their candy so he would start to feel better....so so sweet. He really has some amazing friends:)

We spent the rest of the day swimming at Ma and Papa's house with the Tams. Gavin and Nathan stayed in the pool all afternoon, and then we had a nice dinner out on the patio. So nice they stayed the whole day with us!

Happy 5th Birthday Gavin!

What a perfect day for you. You woke up and you were five! You chose to go to Ma and Papa's house in the morning to swim and have friends over. You got to open a million presents and you were in heaven. Then after you took a much needed three hour nap, we headed to your favorite restaurant, Benihana! You just LOVE to see everything the chef is doing, and this is the perfect place for that! We have been going on your birthday every year since you were 3...its now a tradition. Its also crazy to think that you have been so in love with cooking since before you were three! We ended the bid day going back to Ma and Papa's house for ice cream...your favorite!

{Gavin 60 Months}

Dear Gav,

Well, its here! The day you have been talking about for so long. You are finally five. You have been waiting for this day, telling everyone that you will no longer be four and a half. My big five year old.

I am just so in awe of you and how awesome you are. Always such the silly guy, always telling jokes, and always making everyone around you smile. Everyone that meets you wants to know more about you, and they are always laughing with you. You love it. I am not sure if you realize just how funny you are, but you really do crack us up.

You are really into playing with friends these days. You have many, but just to name a few favorites, they are Emma, Evie, Evangelina, Kaleb, Ryleigh, Maddie, and Ari. Notice all the girls in there? You love your girlfriends.

You have been a phase where you love to come up to me and out of nowhere tell me "Mama? Oh Mama, I just love you so so much!" and "Mama? When you get really old and little, I promise I will come visit you and I will cook for you" and "Mama, when I am old and I marry Ma, I will live at her house, and I will love you and Mikey and Austie and Dada and Papa so so much!" Not sure where this is all coming from, but it may be from your books. You have a few books that talk about when people get old, and one is "Love You Forever." You love that book. When you tell me "I just love you so so much!" I drop whatever I am doing, bend down and hug you tight. Just something about the way you tell me you love me. Melts me!

You still love to hold my hand and have special "momma dates" with me. My favorite times. You sometimes get mad at me when I scold you for upsetting your brother, and you will tell me how to better handle the situation. Like if I yell at you because you are doing something wrong, you will tell me, "Mom, next time you are mad with me, just nicely tell me 'Gavin, please stop doing that' and I will!" Nothing like being educated by a five year old! Amazing part, you are right!

You are into cooking, both "indoor and outdoor" these days. You love riding your bike, sometimes twice a day we go for long rides, and you love racing your brother. You better watch out because he is getting fast! You are really into Magformers cars/trucks too...you will spend hours building them and then racing them around. Grandma got you a new set for your birthday and your have been playing with it non-stop.

You start JK in two weeks....I still can't believe it! My baby will be in school EVERY day! Where has the time gone?!?

Love you SO SO SO much Gavie!

Momma

Last weeks of summer

We are really soaking up these last few weeks of summer...just waking up, and deciding what we want to do with the day. We can be lazy and hang out around the house (this is rare) or we can pick a place to go. Museums, parks, pools, playdates, whatever! Today was the discovery museum...and the boys spend half the time on the fire tuck, all dressed up, and busy putting out fires. Adorable.

Austin's first trip to the dentist!

Today was Austin's first time going to see Dr. Rabitz and have his teeth looked at and cleaned! He was SO excited, and so happy to get up in the chair. Gavin went next to him in another chair, and had his teen cleaned first. Then it was Austin's turn. He sat completely still and did everything Dr. Rabitz said, and then had them cleaned. It was amazing. I was a little nervous that he may get scared and upset, but nope! Austin's teeth are very clean and no concerns. They are "crowded" so we need to start flossing. Oh and Dr. Rabitz is pretty sure that he will need braces one day :( Overall, he had a great day, and was such a good boy! So proud!

Gavin did great as always. He had X-Rays taken that showed some shadows (I know exactly what this means, having had cavities my whole life) so Dr. Rabitz gave him a special fluoride paste to use every night after he brushes and flosses. They are not cavities yet, but could turn into them. Totally genetics, as he brushes and flosses regularly, and really does not eat that much sweets at all. I blame myself:(

They both got to put their name in the no cavity tooth, have their picture taken and put up on the wall, and then picked a toy and balloon. Lastly, they played in the waiting area, as its more fun than a toy store. The joys of heading to the dentist!
