Austin's First Day of Mountain School!

Today Austin had his first day of Los Gatos-Saratoga Observation Nursery School, the Mountain School! He is in the Friday 2's class with Teacher Sarah and Teacher Jane. Teacher Jane was Gavin AND Daddy's teacher, so its extra special to us all!

Austin was so excited to go to Mountain School. He ran up the mountain right to Teacher Jane, and started playing right away. He was so busy, played the entire time. He sat through stories, snack time, circle time, and then lunch! This boy amazes me! He is SO ready to participate in it all...and can sit still for SO long! He was chatting it up with everyone who would talk to him, and was so excited to see the lady bugs. He let them climb all over him, and was laughing so hard.

When it was time to go, he tore down the mountain running (Always a favorite to run down the mountain) and was just so easygoing the whole time! He was happy, involved, and not once was he clingy or whiny. He is just so in love with having fun. Not much stops him!

I still can't believe that he is in Mountain School already. I feel like it was yesterday that I was walking up this same mountain, with Gavin, and I was pregnant with Austin. Time sure does fly! I am really looking forward to the next three years of this incredible experience!

Gavin in JK

I have not written any updates about Gavin in JK, so its time! Things have been SO busy with school, but Gavin is IN LOVE with his school. He can't wait to go each and every day, and he actually begs to stay at extended care! He gets to stay one day a week, and in extended care he has the entire room for just him and any other JK'ers since the big kids are not out yet...and one on one time with Miles! Miles just plays and plays with them...they love it!

In JK he has 10 classmates, and they are all great kids. His best friends right now are David and Natalie. He just loves to see David every morning, and apparently they play all day together. So cute. He has had playdates with both of them, and he is always so excited.

Mrs. Jennifer is awesome. He LOVES her so much. Hugs her in the morning and hugs her when he leaves. She is incredible with them. He also loves Mrs. Liz, the helper.

The first week of school I had hurt my head and I said ouch. Gavin came running up to me, rubbed my arm, and said "Oh Mom! Are you OK? I was worried and wanted to make sure!" I was a little surprised at how sweet he was being, and he then told me he was "Checking In" to see how I was doing. That from now on he would always 'Check in' with others if they were sad or hurt, because maybe he could help. SO SWEET.

Another day he dropped some of his food on the ground, and after a deep breath, I calmly let him know he dropped his food...he then said "Oh, Mom, thanks for the gentle reminder!" He went on to explain that when the reminder is 'Gentle' its a lot better and its easier for him to hear. HA!

I am so happy to see and hear about all the things he is learning in JK! I am SO happy we picked this school, and we are able to send him there. So thankful.

Austin LOVES School

It is a little bit harder for me to take pictures while A is at Mulberry School, as I am always working a station, and don't always see what he is doing. So far, he is loving it. He takes off, plays, and when he has an issue, he comes to find me. Usually he needs to potty or be changed, but he is having a blast. In a few weeks Ma is going to start going with him on Tuesdays (I will do Thursdays) so I can work in big brothers class. As the year progresses he may be OK if we leave him one day...no hurry! I have so many positive things to say about Mulberry School. He loves it, he has the choice to just play the entire time, and he actually LOVES circle time! He follows Teacher Bonnie in as she is singing, and he sits the whole time!

He probably does each and every activity while he is there, and today his favorite was SORTING! The mom working the sorting station could not believe it and she came to find me to show me. She had three different color goldfish crackers. She explained to the kids how to sort. She said all of them were just sitting around eating the fish...but not Austin! He actually made a pattern then sorted them! He did brown, white and yellow...brown, white and yellow! He made like 10 rows of them!!! He was SO PROUD to show me his work.

Another favorite area was the sensory table. He made so much food for everyone! He would walk up to a parent and ask "What you like???" then say, "OH! OK!" and go make it out of the flour. It was adorable. One dad said he made him 5 cups of hot tea. :)

{Austin 31 Months}

Dear Austin,

30 months! How has my baby been around for 30 months? Insane. You are 30 months going on 5 years old. You tell everyone you are "Four half" all the time.

You are SUPER busy these days! Mulberry school Tues/Thurs and Mountain School Friday's. You have speech on Wednesdays, but we have been skipping that a lot, as you are MR CHATTER BOX. You talk in sentences all day long. You talk more than anyone in your class. No worries here!

You just LOVE school. You are so busy. You check out each and every activity and area, and usually spend most of your time with the fire trucks, trains, fireman costumes, sand, and bikes. You attempt the art stations for a few minutes but are into staying active. When I am at Mulberry school I am working a station, so I am not always near you. Thats fine with you, as long as you can come find me when you need me. Your buddies at school are Tara and Javi. You love to be active with them both, its adorable.

You start Mountain School this week and we are SOOO excited! This experience will be incredible!

You are sleeping 8pm-6am and taking a 3-4 hr nap in the afternoon! You work hard and REST hard!

You are eating whatever we give you, and are not very picky! Your favorites are pancakes, bacon, fruits, yogurt, cheese, smoothies, bread, turkey, and hummus. You love to eat peanut butter and jelly o a spoon and you make your own specialties all the time. Like grapes, dipped in hummus, then stirred around in water. Then you eat the grapes and drink the water. Stuff like that you do all the time!

You are potty trained except when you are asleep. Sometimes pee-pee accidents, but we don't even call them that. Its no big deal. I am so used to changing your clothes anyways from all the mess you get into!

You are in 4T diapers, 3T clothes, and size 10 shoes!

LOVE YOU AUSTIE!

Momma

Last days of summer

Its still warm. We still have delicious ripe watermelons. We are savoring each and every last day of summer!

ER for Austin

What an experience! Last week you needed to go to the ER because you were VERY constipated! We tried medicine at home for many hours, and you still couldn't go. You were SCREAMING crying in pain, and it lasted so long that Dr. C told us to head to the ER. So to the ER we went. You received a total of 4 enemas and 3 suppositories (about 10 times what is usually needed to work...) and finally you went potty. This was a first for you, and you were SO MAD. I would have been too.

You have been working through your experience through dramatic play. You keep giving your baby doll enemas...its so sad! You even did it at school, you ran up and told the baby "Get better BABY!" and proceeded to give it a shot in the bottom. Poor buddy!
