Gavin Art

It seems like I am hanging art and taking it down weekly because Gavin brings home so much from his two schools and art class. These are just a few of his favorites that we kept! He also did a "project" with his dad...they hung up a "art wire" in his room to display all his art even more! ;)

More Beach!

Its not often that I am not working on the weekend, but this day I was not! Gavin calls it "Family Day" and he insisted that we head to the beach. We got there at 9am and stayed until 4pm. Of course all three boys took a two hour nap and I got to lay out in the sun:)

The first pic is Austin trying not to fall asleep on the way there. Yes, its 8am, but that's what happens when you get up at 5:30AM!

Lexington Reservoir Field Trip

Although field trips are a lot of work at Mountain School, they are always so much fun. Today we went on a hike down to the Lexington Reservoir, and it was gorgeous. The creek feeding the reservoir is so pretty...and perfect for the kids. We saw a mountain lion paw print, a beaver lodge, and had story time by the creek. The kids all needed TWO changes of clothes, and had a blast. We can't wait to go back.

Seacliff Beach!

We decided to drop everything we had planned for the day, and head to the beach! We met Maddie and Charlotte there, so the boys were SO excited. We spent the entire day, until almost 4pm, at the beach! The kids had a TON of fun, and even went on an adventure while Austin took a nice leisurely 2+hr nap in the shade;)

And yes, us Moms might had had some margaritas at 10am!

Pool in March?

Our sunny days have begun. Gavin decided that it was warm enough (it was not) for the pool. He got in, and right back out. Maybe in a month or so! His exact words, "Its OK, we can just go to Maui to go in the pool and WARM ocean!" Well, he is right. We leave for Maui in less than two months!

St. Patrick's Day 2014

We had green pancakes for bearkfast (spinach of course!), green smoothies for lunch (kale of course!) and green ravioli for dinner. Of course the whole day we were looking for gold that the leprechauns brought and hid...it was everywhere!

Brothers

This is a perfect picture of how much Austin thinks he is four years old. Whatever big brother can do, he will try. I am NOT allowed to help him past getting up on the monkey bars. He then hangs there and laughs...for at least 2 minutes! Then I have to beg him to let me help him get down. He prefers to drop on his own, but its still a little too far.

When big brother is at school

I give Austin a choice of whatever he wants to do. This is his choice!

Naked Brothers

I am the first to admit. It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to keep clothes on these boys! Always they want to be naked, so fine with me! #1 its less laundry, #2 its less diaper as Austin is fully potty trained IF he is naked. Whatever works! They may have a hard time come summer when we need to put on clothes for certain things...such as the store or going out in public;)

{Austin 25 Months}

Dear Austin,

I still can't believe that my baby is two. Time goes so fast when you are having fun!

Since we have been home from SD you have been talking more and more. Talking all the time. You say at least one new word a day, and we have Gavin to thank for that. He teaches you so many words, and you love to make him happy! You started your "speech school" last week, but I am pretty sure you will not need it long. Joyce, the therapist, said you are doing great, and she is already impressed with how many words you know. We are still working on getting you to say them when you want them, to avoid lots of frustrations. Gavin and I are there along with you, and we just play. We are learning new tricks to help you talk. So far, you are a complete show off for Joyce. You are even saying two words together when she asks. I guess what we are learning is that ultimately, you will talk when you are ready.

You continue to be off and on with potty training. If we are home and you are naked, BOOM, you are trained. When we go out, and put a diaper on, you forget. Who can blame you? Not pushing anything these days.

You are completely out of your 18mo-2T clothes. I just donated a HUGE bag of them, as you are now in 2T-3T. Oh, and since you are so tall, you can't fit in 3T footed PJ's anymore! Too tall! Your toes have t curl at the bottom! Thankfully its warm out now, so we could give those away.

You are loving to read the same 4 books before nap and before bed. A book about trains, play, boy parts, and Maisy colors. We need to read them in order, and you have to have "Baba Bakie" (Bottle and blankie) Yes, you still take a bottle before bed, and its time to do away with that! (When you can hold it and say it, its time to get rid of it!) My plan is to get rid of baba before all our travels coming up!

Austin you are such a happy, loud, wild, loving, smart, and daring little boy. NEVER do you fail to surprise us, and NEVER can we take our eyes off of you! You think you are already four years old!

Love you!

Mamma

Gavin's Family

At school Gavin has been working on his family project. One of the neatest parts about Mountain School is that there are so many teachers. Teacher Charlotte is the art teacher, and she works with each child on different projects. (Only if they want to...they are encouraged but not forced) Gavin LOVES to work on projects. These projects are a little more intense, as they have step by step instructions, but he loves it either way. (His other favorite activity is making "creations" with Teacher Leslie) He worked very hard on his family, down to the detail of eye color. He dressed us in our "favorite" clothes and he was so serious. I am also very impressed with his writing. Pretty clear to me!

Gavin LOVES soccer!

Gavin has been in Kidz Love Soccer class now for a few years. He LOVES it. Coach Scott is the main reason because he is a genius with kids. He gets to go with Evangelina, Ari, Jake, Emma, and Evie from his Mountain School class. They all have a blast and smile ear to ear for 45 minutes!

Little boy with ashes

Still laughing about this one. I took the boys to 8AM Ash Wednesday mass...and the boys were so good. They sat and read books, and played peek-a-boo with all the senior citizens who go to 8AM mass. When we walked up to receive the ashes, the priest put them on Austin's head. Then Austin screamed "MORE PEES!!!" because naturally he needed more ashes on his head. Silly guy. Thankfully everyone was laughing.

Water Baby

Followed by our rainy week, we now have lots of sun! Warm enough to be naked (shocker) and play in the hose. We are still in a drought so the boys only get a few minutes of hose time...and its turned on very low. (I am sure thats still wrong, but these boys need some water time) On another note, they have only been taking one bath a day (opposed to two) since we need to conserve water;)

Rain!!!

We have been experiencing a pretty big drought here in California, and I think we have only had one bit of rain back in January. Well, the rain finally came! Its amazing how fascinated the boys were! Gavin was so thankful that "All the plants and flowers can grow now" and Austin was thrilled to puddle stomp for three days straight. At one point, they were both laying down in the rain puddles to swim. (they were in the street puddles...YUCK!)
