Heater repair men

Last night our heater stopped working. Daddy fixed it (So thankful to have a husband who knows how to fix things!) but we needed to call the heater repair man to come replace a part that we don't have (and can't get). They showed up this morning, and Gavin was ready to help. He ran and got his tool bag, and set up his tools to help. They were very good with him, and even used some of Gavin's tools because they knew he wanted to help so bad. Gavin showed them how to take the heater panels off to get inside, and he explained to them that it is "dangerous, because its VERY hot inside!" :)

Time for a new pet?

Toby is here for a few months, but after he goes home it may be time for a new pet. The boys have so much fun with him, and he is so so good with them. He likes to sleep with Gavin, its adorable. :)

Wintertime at Mountain School

Here are some pictures of this winter at school. I just love how much Gavin is learning, and more importantly, how much fun he is having. He just loves school, and is so happy there.

Grocery helper

When we go to the grocery, Gavin gets his own cart and fills it. He has a list (in his head) and he recites it over and over as we are shopping. Every once in a while he sees something and adds it to his mental list. (like brownie mix and frozen waffles) but that's fine with me, because he really does help! He gets most of the produce and always picks the milk, eggs, and yogurt.

Where is Austin?

This is a common question we say all day long. Austin is insane! He is SUCH a fast baby, and he can climb into or up on something in seconds!

We can usually find him on a chair, table, couch, or bed. Or we find him in a cabinet, toilet, or under a bed. That's right, in the toilet. He LOVES to get in the toilet. Thankfully we have learned to close the bathroom doors, but man, he is fast!

Those of you that know us, know that we never baby proofed for Gavin. Although he was a very busy baby, he always listened when we said no. He never put his hands in the toilet....Austin? Not so much! This child loves to do whatever we tell him not to!

He gets in to EVERYTHING! Food, toys, what ever is around him, he is into. Makes a HUGE mess, and just laughs.

I really have my work cut out for me. Thank you Austin for keeping me on my toes;)

Toby the cat

This week we are watching our friends kitty, Toby. He is not really a cat, more like a dog/monkey. He is GREAT with the kids, and even gets in the bath with them. He pretty much thinks he is another kid in the house! He never complains, never makes any mess, and is so so happy to just be around us. My kind of cat. He is going to stay here for a few months while our friends move to a new home...I am not sure my boys will want to give him back!

Chef Gavin

Those of you who know Gavin, know that he adores cooking. He cooks three meals a day in the real kitchen, and millions of meals in his play kitchen and outdoor play kitchen. Essentially he has 6 kitchens...4 at home and 2 at Ma's house. He LOVES cooking and eating food. He knows how to use everything in the kitchen, including all the utensils and gadgets. I really think one day he may be a chef for sure!

Music Together

We started Music Together class a few weeks ago, and the boys love it. It is pretty hard to find a class that I can take BOTH kids to, and this one is for the whole family. They both love to dance and sing, so this is a big hit. Gavin sings along with us, and Austin does his "Austin Boston" dance...its so so cute.

Afterwards we go across the street to have a picnic in the sunshine, and top off the day with a trip inside the library to get Gavin's weekly pile of books. He picks out about 20, and we have to narrow them down to 4. (thats all I can usually carry!)

Gavin & Kaleb

Tonight we had the Elliott's over for dinner. We have not seen them in so so long...so it was way overdue. The boys just pick up playing, like they just saw each other yesterday....its very sweet. Kaleb had jammie day at school, so Gavin put his on too.

Mountain School nightstand

Our good friends the Wiliams' (Emma and Evy's family) gave this nightstand to Austin. He loves it because it is his size, and he can open it to get his toys. Thanks guys!

Cooking Day!

Today was Gavin's day to bring snack at school. We let the kids pick what they want to cook, and he said he wanted to cook eggs and toast! So we brought 36 eggs and a loaf of bread...and these kids ate it ALL! They had so much fun cracking the eggs and stirring them up. They also did a great job cutting the bread and putting butter on. Its so neat to see all the kids working together and cooking...:)

me-"Gavin what do you want to cook at school this week?"
G- "Umm, how about Eggs and toast! AND bacon and sausage and muffins and and pancakes and sugar and watermelon and carrots and swiss chart tart and kale smoothie and maybe syrup?"

11.5 Month photo shoot

I could not be more in love...look at this face! Austin is such a joy to be around, always smiling and studying...he loves to people watch, and then once he is comfortable, he is off! Walking, dancing, and talking. We just love him to pieces!

How we go around the block

Austin LOVES his little car. Sits in it and just smiles. This is the ONLY time this child is sitting still!

Clean teeth!

Gavin really looks forward to going to see Dr. Rabitz. He is SUCH a good boy, and does everything he is supposed to. They always tell him he is the best patient, and he always just smiles. The real reason he loves it is because he gets a no cavity picture, balloon, toy, and special toothpaste. He also loves to play in the waiting area the most. We usually stay there for a few minutes to play.

I am so thankful that we have very good dental insurance, because Dr. Rabitz is such a great dentist. He is so good with the kids, and he knows how to interact with them. He is silly and sweet...and he answers any questions I have...he really is one of the best dentists I have ever been to. He is totally OK with skipping the x-rays and he even looked at baby Austins teeth real fast to make sure they looked OK. He says Austin does not need to come to see him until he is 2.5 or 3. Good thing, because I have a feeling that Austin will not sit still in this chair!

{Gavin 41 Months}

Dear Gavin,

You are almost 3 and a half! I can't believe that this summer you will be four! While most days you act like a three year old, some days I think you are 10. You talk like you are 10! Yesterday at school you told your teachers that "I need to leave school early today because I have a party at home that I need to set up for, and I need to bake a cake and do the dishes." HAHA!

You are pretty good....most of the time. You have your very serious moments where you completely melt down. Most of the time its because you don't want something to change or us to touch something you made....like when you set up a "birthday party" in the living room...and a few hours later I clean up things, and you were not ready for that! We are working on you using your words instead of melting down!

You still eat very well, but have some nights where dinner is a challenge. You will refuse to eat much, and then once we eat dessert, you eat your dinner so you can get dessert too! Bribery is the tool, and it works. We try not to make a big deal out of it...we eat, we ask you to eat 2 times, and then we stop talking to you about food. We continue our meal and do dishes and have dessert. You know that if you want to eat an oreo, you must finish your dinner. Thankfully, this has worked and its never more of a struggle. You sometimes ask for a "different dinner" (you may get away with that when you are at Ma and Papa's house:) but we do NOT make you different food at home and you know it! Nice try buddy!

Sleep is great. No complaints. You LOVE having sleepovers at Ma and Pap's house, and some weeks you go there two times! We are so thankful!

You continue to love school, and are learning so much. You say the funniest things, and I just love getting to go to school with you and watch you learn. Its a very special time for us, and I cherish it so much. Before long, you will be in school all day long, and I will wish for this time back...I know it.

Thank you Gavin for being so sweet...to us and to your brother. We all love you so much!

Jammie Day at school!

{Austin 11 Months}

Dear my baby Austin,

Today you turn 11 months. Where has the time gone? I can't believe that in just one month you will be a whole year. Its insane how fast time goes!

You are as busy as ever. You learned how to walk, and have not looked back since. You re a wild man. You walk all over the place, and if we offer to hold your hand, you shake your head no. You are strong willed and very determined. What I love most about you:)

You are constantly into something. Or on something. You climb like a 2 year old, and you have completely mastered how to get on and off furniture, and can get down steps all by yourself. You go up and down the step stool about 300 times a day (to eat) and you love to do whatever your big brother is doing. You even get into and out of the bath by yourself. 11 months going on three, I swear.

You eat everything we eat and more. Most days I think you eat more than your brother. You need to eat so much to keep up with your crazy energy. You are by no means "big" you are pretty average...but very very muscular. You love fruit, veggies, cheese, eggs, pasta,  you name it!

You are still nursing about three times a day and you take a bottle of breast milk while I am at work. You have still never had anything besides breast milk or water...so we tried some cow milk a few days ago...you made a funny face, and pushed it away. Ha!

You are sleeping very well through the night...go to bed at 8pm and get up anywhere from 5am to 6am. Some days 430am and some days 7am. If you wake up too early, you get to fuss around in your crib for an hour or so...we put a bunch of toys in there, so you are not bored.

You babble and talk all day long. You are LOUD. Lots of "dada" but not much mama. Funny because you are such a mama's boy.

You love playing with daddy and brother every morning...you guys all have so much fun, and some days you cry when daddy leaves for work! Its so sad, but also pretty cute...you love him so much:)

You are in size 12-18mo clothes, but most of the 12mo things are getting too small. You are in size 4 diapers, and good lord, your feet are HUGE! When you first started walking I got down the big bin of shoes so that you could have some when we go out...as you walk barefoot most places. We needed shoes for when we are out in public places...EVERY single pair of shoes that Gavin wore at this age were WAY too small! Like a size and a half! Gavin started walking around this time and was a size 3.5. You are starting in a size FIVE! Your feet are giant! (Ahem, just like momma's) So you went right to size 5W and 5WW :)

You have not liked your paci for months now...I keep forgetting to write that down, but you stopped taking the paci at about 8 months. No paci, but you LOVE LOVE LOVE your blankie's!!! You have two, a big brown one, and a little blue one. You must have both when you go to bed, and you put them in your mouth...this is why I must wash them twice a week! When we get the blankie at bedtime, you will lay your head on my shoulder and snuggle up with your blankie. So sweet:)

We just love you so so much baby Austin. You are a very sweet little guy, and you are keeping us very busy! Thank you for making us the happiest parents in the world.
