Gavin's 6yr Well Check

I still can't believe that Gavin is SIX! We headed to Dr. Croplands NEW fancy office in Los Gatos today for his well check. Here are the stats:

Weight: 50lbs 72%
Height: 49inches 95%
BMI: 14.9 34%
BP: 96/60
HR: 70

He is up to date with immunizations so he did NOT need any shots, that's all he needed to hear! Gavin had his check up and is as always super healthy. No issues with much except two things. #1 he has been snoring quite a bit (I noticed in Ohio when I had to sleep with him!) We have been watching his one tonsil for years now as it was enlarged, but now they are both SUPER big and enlarged. Touching one another! So Dr. C said back to the ENT we go, and I know the answer...a tonsillectomy! I'm totally fine with that since his one tonsil has been SO big forever and caused sore throats. Now the snoring...its time to go! #2 was the fact that Gavin has been having #2 accidents. Tiny tiny accidents but happening none the less. Back in May we started him on miralax and potty sitting at the same time every day (Morning and evening) The theory was that if his stool was always super soft, then he could not hold it when he is busy (what was happening) and he would go regularly. Either way it got a little better but not all the way. So we are off tomorrow to see a Peds GI doctor. I was REALLY hoping not to have to go this route, as specialists usually go big guns, and I have a feeling a "bowel clean out" is in the works. Start fresh and maybe there was a constipation problem? Not sure, we will hear from the expert.

Gavin could care less that he has to go to two more appointments in the next few weeks, as long as he doesn't need a shot. Oh boy, I can only imagine what will happen when he goes to get the tonsils out! Eek!!!

All in all, it was a good appointment. A few issues but nothing too big and as usual we are so thankful for his health. He is big and strong, and so intelligent. Not much more we could ask for!

More updates later with the specialists!

Midweek Ride with Jennifer and Sara

The boys and some friends were invited to Teacher Jennifer's farm to ride some horses. Gavin was SO excited and we have been talking about this since horse camp this summer. We met Elliot and Jamie for dinner before and then we drove down. Gavin, Austin, Elliot and Natalie all took turns on the horses, and we also had a tour of the farm afterwards. It was a super fun night for everyone!

Gavin's first day of Kindergarten!

Well, today was the day. We have a KINDERGARTNER!!!! You were such a brave boy! You walked right up, hugged your teacher, and in you went. We got to go in with you and do a scavenger hunt in your new classroom....and you were so excited to see it all. When it was time to leave you just sat down on the rug and told us goodbye. Austin had a bit of a hard time leaving you, but you were totally fine! I am so proud of you, and more importantly, you are so proud of yourself. GO GAVA!

Benihana Birthday Dinner!

4th year in a row, this was Gavin's choice! He LOVES to come here on his special day!!! Loves to watch the chef cook, and loves to eat the food. Happy Birthday Gavin!

{Gavin 72 Months}

Dear Gava,

SIX! MY BABY IS SIX!!!! I keep saying this over and over. You are SIX! When I tell you all the stories about when you were born you ask me if I still wish you were a baby. Its such a hard question for me because of course I love watching you grow up, but MAN I miss my baby! Not to worry though, as I tell you that you will ALWAYS be my baby.

You are excited to start Kinder next week, and you are looking forward to meeting your new class and teacher. You have such a great attitude, and we are so thankful for that. Change is easy for you, and you adapt so quickly. So your daddy's son!

You are in a 6/7T clothes, size 1 shoe and still wear diapers when you sleep. They are dry more and more these days, so we think soon you wont need them. We have never really worried much because just with all things, you will outgrow this phase when you are ready!

You are so social. Talk with everyone and boy are you honest. You speak the truth and sometimes we need to have some talks about using a bit of a filter;) You say it like it is and that's a good quality!

You are funny, oh so funny. You don't even mean to be, but you sure are a comedian. You make people laugh and always smile.

You continue to sleep and eat well, and as of today, my six year old still naps! You enjoy your naps, as much as daddy enjoys them on weekends! Maybe you will be a forever napper!

We love you SO much Gava!

{Austin 42 Months}

Dear Austin,

Where is the time going? Three and a half!!! You are three and a half going on 6! You sure can keep up with Gavin and must do anything and everything he is doing. You look up to your brother so much, its so sweet to see.

That's not to say you two don't fight! As much as you can keep up with him, you can fight as strong as him!!! You two love each other and fight with each other...we guess its just what we get with brothers!

You chat all day long. Sing all day long. Rhyme all day long. You are SO CUTE. I tell you "You are SO CUTE" all the time. You really are! You love to kiss me, tell jokes, dance, and be a comedian. You LOVE to make others laugh. Ugh, you are SO CUTE.

You loved spending the week with your cousins. You had a blast. This is the first trip that you were not completely glued to my hip while traveling, and it was really nice. You just fit right in with the big kids, and you and Noah loved to tell jokes together. We really cherish all the time we got to spend with our Cincy family...it means so much to all of us.

You are sleeping great, eating great, and as active as ever. Size 4T clothes, 11 shoes and still diapered when you sleep. You are swimming a LOT more these days, still with your floaty, but maybe not for much longer.

LOVE you AUSTIE!

Happy 6th Birthday Gavin...Cincinnati style!

Grandma's annual Christmas card!

Tonight we got the kids in the matching clothes and took photos! This is always a hard task, but thanks to Aunt Erica's booty shakin, everyone was hysterically laughing!

I need to take a moment to thank Erica and Scott for having us stay for the week. We always have so much fun with you, and are so thankful the kids can all play nonstop. Thank you for having us. Thank you to Grandma and Grandpa for the fun party at the land, dinners, and pool day. We had so much fun, and the boys are STILL talking about how fun the land was. Thank you!
