Indian Summer

This past week was HOT. Temps in the high 90's and its sure not a great time to be without the pool! Thankfully we were invited to Evangelina's pool and Jake/Jack's pool....and it was VERY nice to cool off! Also, should mention that there is currently a really bad forest fire happening down south...Loma Pieta area, and it is not that far away. We have been donating to the firefighters and doing a LOT of talking about the fire and what this means. Gavin and Austin are very interested and want to help as much as they can. We hope and pray that it is contained soon!

Today Gav had his yearly check with Dr. Copeland. Both boys were VERY curious if they would need any shots today...and I could not lie...it was flu shot day too :(

Gav had a great appointment. Everything about him is perfect and very healthy. Eats and sleeps well. Does great in school. Gets plenty of exercise. Feeling thankful.

Height: 51 inches 90%

BMI: 16 64%

BP: 98/59 beautiful

The end of the appt was for the flu shots. Of course I went first to show them that it was no bid deal. That didn't matter. They both FREAKED out. Both boys crying. Austin would not even sit still. Of course the pediatric nurse in me was laughing bc it was SUCH an ordeal. Once over, they both admitted it was not as bad as they thought. :/

Tonight we had Ma and Papa over for dinner and dessert for Papa's BDAY. The boys are always really helpful at blowing out the birthday candles!

{Gavin 85 Months}

Dear Gavin,

Another month older. You are such a big guy now, walking into first grade every morning and doing SO well in school. Your teacher has told me time and time again that you are doing fantastic and such a great student. She said you help whenever needed and she can always count on you to do the right thing. You are reading so well, way above the level you need to be. You understand the math, and actually are very annoyed with the math! You say its "so much work, and you are exhausted" from all the work! Yikes.

You started soccer last week, with DeAnza Force, and you really enjoy it. Your team won the game this weekend and you can't stop talking about it.

Rest In Peace Great Grandpa Motor

Over the weekend we got the news that Great Grandpa passed away. He had been battling brain cancer for a long time, and it finally took its toll. He survived WAY past what the doctors had said, and was living his life as best he could. Was still doing a little traveling and hanging out. We always go see him and Grandma when we are in town, and Great Gpa always was so happy to hug the boys. We would talk for a while and always had such a nice visit. 

I waited until Monday morning to tell the boys about him. They were busy all weekend and I was at work, so it seemed like an OK time. Gavin knew Great Gpa's head was hurt, and told me "Now that he is in heaven, he won't have a headache, and he can be a doctor like he used to be." It was very sweet. Now I am off to Cincy for the longest time I will have ever left the boys. Wish me luck, I am not even gone and having a hard time!

{Austin 55 Months}

Dear Austie,

Today is your first day of the 4/5's class at Mountain School! You LOVE it there. Never any complaints, just pure excitement when you know you are going. You pack your clothes, boots, and food. You count down the hours. The only bummer about it, is that it doesn't start until 12:30pm!!! You want to go way before that!!!

You had an awesome day. You played in the creek, you and Milo built a dam, and we went on a long long hike with T. Marie. T. Marie told you all a story while you were sitting on logs in the dried up reservoir. It as a magical story time!

I love seeing you there, and I love getting to experience this with you. It really is the highlight of my week. Being with you boys in class is my absolute favorite...and I feel very lucky and blessed to be able to do so.
