Boys special day with Teacher Jennifer *Austin rides a horse for the first time!

{Gavin 68 Months}

Dear Gavin,

Things have been so busy here. You love your new home. Every once in a while I will ask you if you miss the old house. You tell me that you miss it a little, but your new house is SO MUCH FUN!

You are crazy busy these days with school 5 days a week, gym on thursdays, soccer mondays, and weekends spent working around the house and going to Ma's to spend the night. I would say that your favorite part of the week has to be going to spend the night at Ma's house!

You love life, school, playing, biking, sand, and cooking.

Things shall slow down this summer!

So much to celebrate!

Since we officially sold our home this week, we thought we needed a night of celebration. Papa and I have also been selling a lot of stuff that we don't use anymore, and we thought we should use the $ for a night out with the kids. We asked Gavin and of COURSE he picked Benihana! Go figure!

When the chef asked us if we were there to celebrate an occasion, Gavin shouted "OH YEAH! We sure are!" then gave a huge smile. He then went on to explain all the things we were celebrating. Like the fact that Austin can now ride a bike with training wheels or the fact that he starred in his first play at school. Oh the joy in his voice!

Both boys were completely mesmerized the entire time. Watching the chefs every move. Gavin even uses his fork and spoon on his own plate to mimic the chefs actions.

Thankful for this next chapter to start!

Meeting Betty Peck

For a few years now, I have been going to have Tea with Betty Peck in her home. Its something I win at the Mountain School auction every year, and its so charming. She is such an inspiration to so many.  She is the founder of Mountain School, and was a kindergarten teacher for a very long time. Positive discipline, observation nursery school, let them play...she is the queen of these things. SO much to learn from her. She has so much experience, and is so knowledgable. She is one of the people I went to when trying to decide whether or not to send Gavin to K as a young 5 or young 6. After many talks, one thing that has always stuck with me is to "Give them the gift of time." In all things parenting, time is always on our side. So many things take time, and time can mean so much to a young child. So, she has been an inspiration to me.

Last night I had the annual tea with the other Mtn School moms at her home. Today the boys and I decided to take her some fresh sweet bakery bread (her favorite) to say thank you. She invited us in, and talked with the boys for some time. They talked about the train tracks in her yard that her husband built. She told them the story of how he went up to SF to get them from a peach orchard. They were so intrigued by her words and stories.

After we talked, she told them to go check out the creek in her yard. So we went down and played for some time in the water. Her property is magical. Lots of secret gardens, pathways, tree house, acting stage, and even a train. We explored for over an hour and they loved it.

We are so thankful to have had this incredible experience.

{Austin 38 Months}

Dear Austin,

Phew! Thats what you say all the time. That and "Oh, its TERRIBLE!" when you don't like something. Your vocabulary is that of a 6 year old. We laugh together SO much!

Things are busy. Busy busy busy. We get to do so much fun stuff during the week, just you and I. Museums, zoo, parks, and lots of biking. Mtn School Fridays. You love it all. Oh, and per your request, we frequent a LOT of Starbucks!

You are eating, sleeping, and playing great these days. No complaints.

Thanks for being such a cute ham Austin!

Momma

ps. I ask you every day if I can "have a bite of your cheeks" and you let me. LOVE.

Gavin's performance in Caps For Sale!

Oh boy, was it a big day around here! Today Gavin performed in his first play, Caps For Sale. His class has been practicing for a month, and he was so excited for his part as a Townsperson. He even asked the night before if he could pick out a "Work shirt with a tie."

The day was even more special because Daddy was off work! He took the day off to see the play and hang out!

Gavin did a great job as the townsperson, and was very proud. We were proud too!

Gavin & Austin the Chefs!

It never fails, these two are so interested in watching people prepare and cook! No matter where we go, they must see! Most places we go involve coffee, so here they are watching the barista make hot coffee! They watched for about 20min!

Goodbye Woodcrest Drive!

Today was a very bittersweet day for us. Our very first home on Woodcrest Drive sold, and we had to go say goodbye. We have not lived there for over a month, but it was still sad to say bye!

We decided that we would walk around the house, say good bye, then go on our last family bike ride in Cambrian. We rode to Hacienda (like always) and played for a bit. A big rainbow appeared, and that made the sadness fade a bit.

When we packed up, and shut the garage for one last time, it was sad. We loved that house, and the neighborhood. It was good to us, and was the best place for us. Many memories. We got married and came home to that house. We brought both the boys home to that house. Lots of firsts. First words, steps, cries, bike riding, and so much playing done in the back yard. Birthday parties, lots of sleepless nights, and of course a billion games of chase and hide and seek. We will miss you Woodcrest Dr!

With that said, we are SO excited for what is to come. For our new home, in our dream neighborhood. We are looking forward to the renovations and we are looking forward to Ma & Papa coming to live with us in a few years. We are SO thankful to have our family here, and to have the school close by to send them to. We are truly blessed and to thankful.

I also want to make a note that the boys have done SO well with this transition! It has been seamless and we have yet to have any complaints, sadness or difficult times! They transitioned to their new rooms so easily and have been loving our twice a day bike rides. We still have SO much more to explore here in Saratoga, and we are all looking forward to it!

Easter 2015

Easter weekend has been SO busy!!! With all the has been going on, Easter just snuck up on us!

The weekend started out with a fun Easter egg hunt at Wildwood Park...its here in Saratoga, and we have come since G was little...a super fun egg hunt! Daddy and Gavin ALWAYS do the 2 legged race together too.

Easter Sunday we started the day off with finding some presents the Easter bunny left! He left the boys each a little basket with some candy AND a NEW BRUDER BULLDOZER! They have been asking and asking and asking, and we think the bunny heard them!

We then headed off on a bike ride to church! We now live just blocks from church, and we got there in a few minutes. :) After church, we walked out to ANOTHER egg hunt! So the boys took off for another hunt. We already love our new church!

Then we were off to the Elk's Club to meet Ma and Papa for Easter brunch and yes, another egg hunt! We had a nice brunch, then out to collect more eggs.

Gavin runs as fast as he can...gets a billion eggs. Does NOT stop until he is SURE they are all gone. Austin collects one egg, opens, inspects, decides if he wants to eat it or not, then puts it back together. This goes on and on, and he usually only gets 3 or 4 eggs as he is not interested in the number yet;)
Headed home, took naps while it was raining out (What?!) and then headed over to Ma and Papa's for Easter dinner. Had a nice dinner together. It was a really nice Easter.

Funny moments:
*Austin is terrified of the bunny. Everywhere we saw him, Austin would go the opposite way and then say he wanted to go home. On Easter eve, he made me promise him that I would tell the bunny to drop off the baskets OUTSIDE so he didn't need to come in.

*Gavin asked me during church "Are you gonna go drink beer now?" when it was time for communion. We think its time for Sunday school!
