Spina Farms 2014

This is a favorite tradition of ours...heading to Spina Farms! The boys had a blast checking everything out this year, and we didn't even need to buy any pumpkins because Gavin grew all of ours! The boys love to ride on the train and go on a hayride. We walked over to the farm stand after to get some farm fresh corn for dinner. Such a fun family tradition.

{Gavin 61 Months}

Dear Gavin,

Another month has passed. You are in school every day of the week, and LOVING it so much!

You are excited every day to go, and excited each day I pick you up. You just love it.

You came home the other day and told me that some of your classmates order "cafeteria lunch" and they have mac n cheese. I asked you if you would like to order lunch too, since mac n cheese is your favorite. You told me "No, but how about I make the mac n cheese and bring it in for everyone who wants to order it!" It was so sweet. YOU want to make every ones food! IF you are not a chef when you grow up, I will be completely shocked.

Since you are busy with school in the mornings, we don't really have anything else scheduled. You and Austin come home from school and you both play and then sleep a few hours. Usually we have to wake Austin up by dinner! You are really good at helping me with that. You run, open his door, and then run out really fast. You know all too well that he wakes up grumpy sometimes, so you get out of there;)

Even though you are SO happy to go to school, you are still my little emotional one. You would never know it, but tonight you told me "Momma, I never want you to leave me, I would be so sad!" Then you went on to tell me that you are so sad when I leave you at school because you just miss me so much, and it hurts. Such a sweet and sensitive boy. One of my most favorite parts about you is that you can tell me how you feel. Anytime, you can speak of your feelings. I hope you never loose this. Its so important.

I LOVE you to the moon and back Gavie!

Love -
Momma

Family Day

Gavin calls it "Family Day" when Derek and I are both home from work. If we are all 4 together for the whole day, thats a family day! We usually decide in the morning what we want to do....park, bike ride, zoo, aquarium, or whatever the boys like. Today it was "Happy Farm" as Austin calls it. Happy Hollow Zoo.

Austin has been begging to go on the roller coaster, but usually its just me with them at the zoo, and I can't leave Gavin alone...so Austin never gets to do it. Today was different! Austin was SO thrilled to go on the roller coaster with Daddy! Gavin did it once about a year ago, and HATED it. Just despises the roller coaster, so there is no talking him into it!

Austin's face was priceless. He was so happy, and concentrating so hard! He was very serious, and then told us he "Wuved it so so much."

After the playground, we walked around to see the animals. The leopard was sleeping right in the sunshine with his face right next to the glass. The boys watched him for so long...it was sad and sweet at the same time.

I am so thankful that my work schedule allows me to be home some weekends. Right now, since things are so busy, I am working every other weekend. I really like getting some more family days!

Date Night!

We are so lucky to have Ma to come watch the boys so we can go out on date night! We have been trying to head out minus the kids once every few weeks...here and there. Last night we went to the Blake Shelton concert, and it was a lot of fun. So nice to have dinner, drinks, and sit in peace! SO thankful to have Ma! (Especially since Austin was kicking and screaming as we left!) She is the BEST.

Mikey

Boy did we pick the best cat in the world! Mikey has been a ton of fun for us all. He is very adventurous and also very sweet. Best of all he is so good with the boys. He lets them pick him up, carry him, and play with him all the time. If he gets mad, he just yells really loud and they let go. Perfect! He LOVES to be pet, and turns on the purring in seconds. He will start purring when he just sees your hand out to pet him.

Mikey likes to go anywhere we go...he has sat by the bath each night to watch the boys, he lays with us for stories in bed, and he even takes naps with the boys. He likes to climb ladders, yep, he climbs up the attic ladder to come with us when we go up there to put stuff away. He also likes to escape to go outside almost every time we go out. He always comes back, usually pretty quick because he gets scared. Every time we go to Ma & Papa's house, we bring Mikey...he got to stay there when we went camping, and he had a great time. When we get the cat carrier out, he runs inside! He knows we are going out!

He is completely potty trained, never had an accident. He is very insistent that he eats by 6:15am and 6 pm every day. He will come yell at us if he is not fed yet. He prefers some dry food with some wet food mixed in. Science Diet of course. He is not too much into table food, and just plays with it if he is given it.

He sleeps on our bed at night, and doesn't make a peep until he hears the boys wake up. Once they wake up, Mikey jumps out of bed and runs to be with them. Its so cute!

When we go outside, Mikey usually comes out with his leash. He just sits in the grass eating it the entire time, and sometimes likes to go in the bushes.

We love you Mikey!

Austin's First Day of Mountain School!

Today Austin had his first day of Los Gatos-Saratoga Observation Nursery School, the Mountain School! He is in the Friday 2's class with Teacher Sarah and Teacher Jane. Teacher Jane was Gavin AND Daddy's teacher, so its extra special to us all!

Austin was so excited to go to Mountain School. He ran up the mountain right to Teacher Jane, and started playing right away. He was so busy, played the entire time. He sat through stories, snack time, circle time, and then lunch! This boy amazes me! He is SO ready to participate in it all...and can sit still for SO long! He was chatting it up with everyone who would talk to him, and was so excited to see the lady bugs. He let them climb all over him, and was laughing so hard.

When it was time to go, he tore down the mountain running (Always a favorite to run down the mountain) and was just so easygoing the whole time! He was happy, involved, and not once was he clingy or whiny. He is just so in love with having fun. Not much stops him!

I still can't believe that he is in Mountain School already. I feel like it was yesterday that I was walking up this same mountain, with Gavin, and I was pregnant with Austin. Time sure does fly! I am really looking forward to the next three years of this incredible experience!
