Artist Gavin

Gavin has so much opportunity to do art. He always spends a lot of time at both preschools doing art, and he also takes an art class once a week that he loves. Making "creations" is one of his favorites. Things are slowly starting to make more sense, and we are seeing a real artist blooming!

You can tell which ones are from Mountain School of course. Those usually involve woodworking, hot glue guns, glitter and sewing...all of those he is pretty good at! His art class projects are pretty fancy...lots of canvas painting and drawing from observation. We love them ALL and they are displayed throughout the house!

Driving home

We thought the best way to get home with the kids (8+hr drive) was to leave bright and early, and stop in Santa Monica to let them get out all their energy at the beach. Of course, they ended up being naked in minutes. They got to enjoy a live band and do a little dancing. Perfect way to ensure they would sleep. Before we got back on the highway, they were both out!

Old Town

Today we headed over to Old Town San Diego to check out the really cool historic buildings, museums, and restaurants. We explained to the kids that it was "the birthplace of California" and Gavin kept saying it was "the first country!" It was pretty cute.

They got to pan for gold and gems at one of the places. Complete heaven for Maddie and Gavin. We apparently found a lot of "very asspensive" gems and real gold.

After naps, the big kids and dads headed over to the Catamaran Resort pool to swim. (Just down the street) The little ones ran the beach and resort grounds...feeding fish and ducks. What could be better?!

Mission Beach Condo

We really lucked out with the place we found for the week! It was the ground floor condo, right on the beach. It had plenty of space, and walk in closets to put the babies in their pack-n-plays:)

Nightly baths. Complete chaos at mealtimes. Sand everywhere. SO much fun!

The kids spent every waking moment out in the sand. Building sandcastles, tunnels, and playing in the water.

Mission Beach

The condo where we are staying is on the bayside of the water, but right across the street is the ocean. We would go to the beach with the kids super early in the morning, and they would still be in their jammies...and by the time we left, they were all naked and soaking wet! This morning we took a kite, and they were all so excited.

Austin is a bit of a daredevil. He has not a single ounce of fear when it comes to running in the ocean. Just goes for it. Makes me nervous. He will get knocked over by a wave, and get right up and yell "WOAH!" and keep at it. The water was a bit chilly, but no one cared!
