{Gavin 11 Weeks}

Our baby is 11 weeks! Can't believe that he is almost 3 months old!

Like I say every week...time flies. Really fast. Too fast.

Gavin has definitely found his little voice this week...and talks all the time. When he is not eating his hands, he is talking.

Another new thing he has discovered is the TV! Yes, the TV. He loves it. I used to watch a lot of TV pre-Gavin...now I only watch a few things. The other day when I was trying to watch Grey's Anatomy, I realized that Gavin was watching it too! Ha! He was so happy! I quickly distracted him because he is too young to watch TV...Right?!?

Here he is in the Bumbo Seat. It says not to use until he is 4 months. Yeah Right. Gavin sits up in it just fine at almost 3 months. And of course, he is looking straight at the TV. It's Saturday and football is on...(And yes, he is in his jammies at 3pm on a Saturday. That's why I LOVE the weekends)

Very Exciting News!

No, I am not pregnant!

I am going to be an aunt to a NIECE in March!!! Erica and Scott just found out that they are having a girl!!! We are SO happy and very excited for them! Little Griffin is going to be such a great big brother:) Finally a girl...little girl stuff is just so cute!

The more important news was that little girl Lyons is absolutely perfect and growing the way she should! This is WAY more exciting to me, because health is all we can really ask for:) After the scare that we had at our 20 week ultrasound, I am always scared when someone says that they are having the "Anatomy Ultrasound." I know, I can't always assume that something will be wrong, it just brings back memories. I knew deep down that she would be perfect, because Erica and I have an amazing guardian angel up in heaven. Grandma is up there looking out for us and our babies...and I am sure Grandma is picking out a LOT of little girl things that we need to shop for:)

10 week Photo Shoot @ the Park

#1 Favorite of the 1 MILLION pictures we took!

Seriously

Here is G on Sunday afternoon, loving his nap in our bed. Seriously. He is so freakin cute! I know that I am his Mom, so naturally I think he is the cutest baby in the world...but seriously, Isn't he so freakin cute?! We love Sundays around here...lots of eating, football watching(G and Daddy) and enjoying this lovely fall weather outside:)

Cowboy In Us All

Saturday night was our neighborhoods annual Halloween block party! Derek and I decided that we would not dress up (I know, such party poopers) because we did not go get any costumes in time...and at the last minute we thought we better do something...so we looked through our closets and decided that we could all three be Cowboys! Here I am with my little cowboy:) Gavin slept for only a few minutes at the party, and was awake the REST of the time! He was in such a good mood...just looking around at all the people and kids! This is going to be such a fun party for him when he is a little older...there were a million kids there, running around all dressed up, and they even had 2 bounce houses!!! We went with our good friends Rusty and Meghan, and naturally Rusty and Derek supplied the keg in the kegerator..It's times like these that the kegerator comes in handy!

{Gavin 10 Weeks)

Mr. Gavin is 10 weeks today! He has been changing so much and it is so much fun to watch. His personality is really starting to develop and it is so cute to see. He feels 100% better now than he did a few days ago...it was a short little cold for him, Thank God.

Gavin is starting to really let me know that he does not want to take a "burp break" while eating. I usually burp him between sides while nursing, and he has never complained and always had a really great burp...well not anymore! Now, when I try to burp him between sides, he YELLS at me! It's kinda funny because when he is yelling and he burps, it sounds like a big old man burp! Ha!

G has been smiling more and more, and he really likes it if you get up real close to him and give him big smiles...if you don't show a little teeth and grin really big, he will not really smile. Its pretty cute:)

He is still being swaddled at night to sleep. We have tried to not swaddle him, but his arms are all over the place...in his face, mouth, everywhere...and it stops him from sleeping or wakes him up. So, we still need to keep his arms down. Wondering how log we will/can swaddle him...

The past few days Gavin has definitely found his voice! All of the sudden, he has started to "talk" all the time! Mostly it is to his toys, and usually leads to a whiny cry, but it is so cute! Also any time he is on his belly for tummy time, he talks:)

**Don't you love his cute outfit?!? Thanks Great Aunt Debbie:)

Poor G

Poor little Gavin woke up yesterday morning with his first cold. I knew something was different throughout the night because he kept coughing in his sleep (From all the saliva/snot). We spent the day yesterday in our Jammie's and in bed. He is already such a little cuddle bug, so now that he is sick, that's ALL he wants to do. Besides getting really frustrated when he can't eat well, he has been in an OK mood. He still smiles at me, even after I attempt to suck all the snot from his nose (He hates this). We hope today he feels a little better...and hopefully by the weekend he is back to his normal self:)

Saturday with Daddy

Here is Gavin getting his first lesson in "power tools" with Dad. He was a happy little man just sitting there watching!

Gavin's first attempt to go potty on the toilet...I had nothing to do with this one--all Derek! (If you are wondering, no, he did not pee!)

He's Got It!

During Gavin's 9 week photo shoot yesterday I finally captured what he's "got." The first is his cute little smile (Loves to smile at me while I am singing "I've got the Joy, Joy, Joy, down in my Heart") The second thing he's "got" is his hand! He finally found his hand and loves to suck on it!

2 Month Check-up

We just got home from Gavin's 2 month check up...and boy was it eventful! Last time for his one month appointment he peed all over me when I undressed him, and today it came out the other end! After Dr. Copeland saw him I was holding him while waiting for the nurse to give his shot. All the sudden I saw "the look" he gives when he is going potty...and boom! He grunted so hard and I knew it was bad! I looked at Derek and asked him if there was poop all over me because I did not want to look down...sure enough it came up and out the back of the diaper and all over me and the floor!!! HA! Derek thought it was so funny...I guess I did too...just not when POOP is all over me!

After his visit the nurse came in with his vaccine. We have decided to go with Dr. Bob's alternative vaccine schedule (From the Vaccine Book). It still means we will be vaccinating him with almost everything, just on a delayed schedule. He got the Pentacel vaccine, which is a combo vaccine. It has DTaP, Polio, and HIB. I had Daddy hold Gavin because I could not do it! I know, I know, I give babies shots ALL the time at work, yet I could not hold my own baby for a shot. In a second it was over and Gavin screamed for about 3 seconds until I put the pacifier in his mouth...then he was fine! He was a little fussy during bedtime, but nothing a little Tylenol would not help:) Then he had a GREAT night of sleeping...almost 6.5 hours straight without eating!

Anyways, Mr. Gavin had a good visit with the doctor (minus the shot!). His stats are:
Weight: 12 lbs 11 oz 75th percentile
Height:23 in 50th percentile
Head Circ:40.5 cm 70th percentile

She was very impressed with his head control and how "strong" he is.

In development, Gavin holds a firm grasp on objects or hands. He makes "coo" noises in the mornings when he smiles...but its hard to tell what noise he is making because he has so many:) He follows objects, toys, faces, and voices ALL the time. Just today I held the phone up to his ear when Grandma called...and he just looked side to side over and over looking for her face...too cute!

Gavin still eats around every 2-3 hours during the day and at night he goes 4-5 hours at once, and mostly every 3 hours at night. Still exclusively breastfed, and gets a bottle of breast milk every night from Dad.

Gavin has been doing a new thing when he is sleepy. He rubs his head back and forth on my shirt or to the side (when in his car seat or stroller) until he falls asleep...he also does it when he is waking up, its so cute:) He loves to snuggle...and I love it too!

not me MONDAY

While on one of our weekly trips to Starbuck$ last week I did not completely forget to pick up Gavin's dirty diaper and throw it away before I left...I would never leave it sitting on the ground or chair out on the patio and forget to throw it away...that would be so rude and gross! Nope not me! (I would never not remember if I threw it away or not because I was so tired...that's no excuse!)

While folding laundry on the porch with Gavin in my lap, I did not wipe up some of his spit-up with Dad's clean underwear because I did not want it to get it on Gavin's 4Th outfit of the day...and I was tired of changing him. Nope not me! (Don't worry Daddy, I did not do this, and if I did, I promise I put them back in the dirty laundry!)

That's about all I can think of now...seriously Erica, I know you are SUPER busy, but I tag you to play along...I know you have some stories about Griffin:)

{Gavin 8 Weeks}

Mr. Gavin is 2 months old! Just thinking that he will be a year in 10 months really scares me! I think the time goes too fast...

Gavin had a pretty good week, besides the night his daddy and I tried to change his little schedule...Usually Gavin gets a bottle of breast milk from Daddy late at night so that I can sleep...but we tried to replace this with me feeding him instead...and boy did he mind! It threw off his entire night, so we went back to the same old schedule the next night. He sure likes his bottle from Dad in the middle of the night!

Gavin has been smiling more and more, still mostly when he is in such a good mood in the mornings...when he sits in his chair and kicks and moves his arms like crazy. He looks like he is trying to run somewhere. He also has started to make little noises with his mouth and now drools! I thought this came later, but I guess not! He sometimes finds his hand to suck on, and I get happy with this (Because I don't have to use the paci).

It has been getting pretty chilly here (OK, 60's) and he has been wearing warmer clothes...and he loves it because this baby loves to be warm...really warm!

Over the weekend we took Gavin to his first Pumpkin Patch in Half Moon Bay! We went with our neighbors Ken and Andrea, and their 2 kids. Their oldest child Dominick had SO much fun and we just walked around with the babies in the carriers. The place we went really does a good job making it really fun for the kids. It was HUGE and has SO many pumpkins. They also had music, pony rides, and bounce houses. Afterwards we went to eat at "New Leaf" a cute Whole Foods type of place...All organic and very yummy:) The best part of the day was the fact that Gavin was PERFECT all day! He slept most of the time, but when he was awake, he was so good! (Even during the hour car ride there and back!) We were so happy that we got to go out and have fun AND have such a good baby!

Boy in Blue

Gavin looks so cute in blue. I think I took 100 pictures here...here are my favorites!

Monday, October 5, 2009

So I thought I would start doing "not me Monday." It came from a blog that I read almost daily, My Charming Kids. She started this "not me Monday" as a way to admit some imperfections about being a mom, and its pretty funny!

SO I will start with our trip to Babies R Us last week and what I did not do. I definitely did not park in the "Expectant Mothers" parking space because there was NO other space...and then I did not proceed to try to stick out my belly (not very hard for me right now!) as I was getting Gavin out of the car...so that the little old man would not judge me...nope, not me! (I did not do this because it was one of my BIGGEST PET PEEVES when I was pregnant and I saw NON-PREGNANT women doing this...)

While picking up a few things at Target, I did not pretend that someone else made the ENORMOUS pooping/farting sound my son made...I did not just look around and mumble "eww that's gross" in hopes that the young couple standing next to me did not think it was ME!

While Derek, Gavin, and I were driving to Santa Cruz this weekend to have brunch with some friends, I did not think about leaning my entire body over Gavin's car seat to breastfeed him while we were driving because he was so hungry...That would be dangerous. Nope, not me!

I did not smack the hand of a complete stranger as she tried to touch my baby at the store...no, not me! That would make me a crazy germaphobe mother, right!?!

Oh, there are probably a million more where these came from, Now I tag ERICA to do the same:)

{Gavin 7 Weeks}

Seven weeks!?! Yikes, how time is passing so fast! Gavin has been changing so much each day and really starting to develop a little personality.

Tummy time is slowly starting to become better for Gavin...in fact the other day he fell asleep while on his tummy...and now, today he has started to roll over to his back EVERY time I put him on his tummy...One minute he's on his tummy, the next he's on his back:)

The mornings seem to be his "favorite" time of day...me too! He is always in such a good mood and loves to interact. He likes to sit on my lap on my knees, or sit in his chair on the counter and "talk to me." He smiles every once in a while when I talk to him, and has started to coo.

Oh, and have I mentioned his head control??? Ever since he was only a few weeks old, he seemed to have really strong neck muscles. Now, he hold his head up and moves it all around...and when he is on his tummy he lifts it so far up to see what is going on around him.

Over the weekend Gavin had his first "trip" to Santa Cruz. Our neighbors down the street, Ken and Andrea invited us to go to brunch downtown Santa Cruz for Andrea's birthday:) So we packed up and headed over the hill...which is about 45 minute drive...and G did GREAT! He slept the entire time! When we got there we had a really nice brunch outside on the patio, and then did a little shopping in the cute little stores downtown. Ken and Andrea have 2 kids, Dominick(3) and Ava(5 weeks). They are SO cute! Dominick is probably one of the cutest 3 year olds I have ever met...very sweet and very well behaved...and always saying the funniest things! Anyways, it was nice to "get out" of here and take a little day trip. Ken and Andrea are so sweet and we had a lot of fun with them:)

Mohawk Man

It has been such a beautiful day today...80's and sunny... Gavin and I had a great day, we even got to go out to lunch with Daddy for his Birthday! Mr. Mohawk man is fast asleep from his tiring photo shoot...he sure loves the camera!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Dear Dad,
Thank you for being such a great Daddy to me! I love when you get home from work and we get to hang out together...especially when you talk and sing to me. I also love our nightly walk around the block...it always puts me to sleep! Oh, and did I mention how much I love the baths you give me? Thanks for being the best Daddy:)
Love,
Gavin
