Halloween 2013

Tonight was a ton of fun. We had Ma and Papa over for dinner, and we sat down for a nice meal. After dinner, we played a bit and then headed out to the front porch to put on costumes. The boys were both very excited to get into costume and roar like a dragon (???) We were dressed a little early, so then they ran around the yard and played on iPhones for a bit. As soon as it was a little dark, we were off!

First we went to Debbie and Johnny's house...where Austin learned how to trick or treat for the first time. He was a little confused why Gavin was running up to the door and then running back. So Austin slowly walked up and then decided to pick about 5 pieces of candy. He brought them all back to me and wanted to eat each one! After trying to explain we could not eat ALL the candy, he was mad. Only wanted to eat what he had. So after about 5 houses, he gave up on it. He then wanted Daddy to carry him so he could slowly eat more candy. Gavin? He was off. Hitting up all the houses that he could. We did 2 blocks and then he decided that he was done. He said he was ready to go home to see what he got. Perfect! Saw all our neighbors and walked a few blocks!

We had talked about the "plans" for Halloween for weeks. Gavin could decide what candy he wanted to eat, and when, but the limit was 3 pieces. So at school in the morning he got candy from a friend and wanted a piece. He asked me "Mama, if I eat this, does it count as the HALLOWEEN candy????" Hahaha. Of course he got to eat some then, and then after the haunted house he had some. We didn't count those:) Gavin picked out the biggest 3 candies he could, and went to town. So did Austin.

About 20 minutes later? WILD kids. Took a bath and they were running around the house naked. Completely wild! Sugar rush gone crazy.

Finally at 8:30 Gavin was asleep, and Austin continued to fuss until 9:30. Too much sugar!

Pumpkins photoshoot

Right before we left for school today I could not help myself. They looked too cute. My favorite is Gavin kissing Austin's cheek. Very sweet. Totally unprompted!

My buddy

When Gavin is at school, Austin and I are very busy! We usually play and go to the park, but sometimes a Target trip is necessary. Austin gets to eat a banana and open a new bag of goldfish, so he is always happy. Sometimes I am able to grab a few shirts (Yes, my entire wardrobe is from Target) and look for other things. Today my little pumpkin decided he needed ANOTHER pumpkin. Whatever makes him happy....AND quiet!

Preschool Halloween Parade

Today at Gavin's new school there was a Halloween parade that the kids put on. It was adorable. They all came out and walked around this big circle to show everyone their costumes. Gavin and Kaleb walked together....those two are buds:)

New Preschool

Today was Gavin's very first day at Clement Preschool! He is now going to go to this "drop-off" preschool on Tues/Thurs mornings. We know a few people who go there, so we have heard great things. It is less than a few miles away, and the people there are great.

I walked him in, he took off his jacket, and turned around and said "OK, bye mama!" I was so happy! (I have NO idea why I was so nervous he would be sad!) 3 Hours later I picked him up and he was so happy! Talked all about the day and what he did. Success!

Bear Creek Stables

This weeks field trip was up Bear Creek Road to the stables! They are privately owned on a gorgeous property. The kids loved the hike and then feeding the horses. Gavin fed almost each horse. He wanted to evenly distribute his carrots:) It was such a fun day...Gavin and Ryan held my hands a lot of the hike...very sweet. I cherish this time I get to have with Gav.

Halloween Party

Tonight we headed over to the Williams new house in the Los Gatos Mountains for their annual Halloween Party! I was actually at work all day, and managed to get someone to come in for me the last 4hours. So I rushed home, picked up the boys, and we headed over. Not the most creative, but I was a nurse and Derek was my patient:) The boys were some ADORABLE dragons. The party was super fun....lots of games and things for the kids to do...Gavin bobbed for donuts, hit the piƱata, and played a few guessing games. It was a bunch of Gavin's classmates, so they were all running around having fun:)

Austin rides a bike

Its official. Austin is one going on four. He HAS to do everything that his big brother does. Can NOT be left behind and HAS to do it himself. He now has to ride his balance bike all the way to Hacienda at night. It takes us about an hour to get 4 blocks. He is very slow, but SO proud of himself. Looks like the stroller is a thing of the past!

Gavin's latest art

Since starting his big art class, Gav has made some pretty cool things. Most are in the art studio on display, so we don't have them home yet. Here are a few pieces that Gavin HAD to bring home as soon as possible. The first is his "sidewalk in the sky" and the second is "rocket dog." He is very proud of both. The last is a pile of the latest things he has done at the museum AND some art from his cousins. Gavin really does love to make things, and he always looks forward to art class and art studio at the museum.

getting along

Not sure what has changed, but the boys are getting along much better these days. Maybe its because Austin is starting to understand more, or maybe because Gavin is getting better at helping him...they are playing and laughing with each other a lot more these days:) They love to play chase, hide n seek, and cones. Cones is a obstacle game where Gavin sets up the soccer cones, and then tells Austin how to run around them. Austin does not do a single thing Gavin says, but its so cute to hear Gavin praise him for "doing it right!"
