{Gavin 40 Months}

Dear Gav,

Oh how much you have grown up! You are such a big boy, helping do everything around the house, including cooking and taking care of brother. You are the best help!

You stay very busy these days with school, soccer practice, gym class, cooking, building tents and forts, pretend cooking, reading millions of books, and so so much more. So busy, I can't keep up.

The past few weeks you have had some difficulty eating! For the first time in your life, we are having to bribe you to eat dinner. We tell you no dessert if you don't eat...and that usually does the trick. Ever since you had that terrible cold and sore throat, you tell us now that "Davin can't eat bc my throat hurts" and you ask us to feed you! Maybe its because we have to help baby eat? No idea, but its tiring! Now I understand how frustrating it can be to get a child to eat! We hope this passes fast!

Sleeping great. Some days until 7am!

Wearing size 4T in everything. Size SIX diapers at night and nap. Diapers are still very very wet in the morning, so not time to night train you yet! You are 36 or 37 pounds now...feels so heavy.

Talking our ears off all day and night. Talk to strangers. Talk to anyone who will listen. Ask WHY about 600 times a day. You ask strangers all the time "Hey! What are you doing?" and then if they respond you say "Why????" :)

Gavie-Life with you is so much fun. You are such a sweet guy. You love to joke and play. Your favorite thing to call people is a "Booger-nut"-- We love you-

Momma

Shower Creation

Last week it was chilly and rainy, so when Austin naps for 2 hours in the morning, Gavin and I were bored. Why not take a hot shower for an hour? Here is what Gavin likes to do in the shower!

{Austin 10 Months}

Dear Austie Bostie,

How have TEN months passed already? Oh my, I can't believe that you are almost one. I just teared up a bit. It really does not seem possible that you were born almost a year ago. Its crazy that one year ago I was just put on bed rest, and was so so worried that you might come too early. We are so lucky that you stayed put until your due date, and were very healthy.

Where to start? You are such a fun, cuddly, sweet, loud, adventurous, shy, and happy baby. Sometimes you are crazy wild and crawling all over the place, and other times you are glued to my hip. Total mommas boy for sure. When your brother was this age, I read a book about personality types...and he fit into one perfectly. You? Not so much. You have a mixture of many, and I just love trying to figure you out.

These days you are a super fast crawler, and you will "walk" along things and furniture. You have taken a few steps here and there by yourself, but only to lunge toward something, and then you are done. I am just waiting or the day you take off running. Oh man, big brother will be in for it then!

You love to play with toys. All toys. Things that make noise. Things that you can throw. You have a pretty good arm, and throw things a lot. You LOVE to take things out of buckets or off shelves, and just throw them. You will spend a LOT of time emptying my pantry or your dresser drawers. You also think its hilarious when we tell you no! Oh, you will laugh and squeal. Not sure how good this is;)

Foods. What food don't you like? None. If you are not into the texture, you just chew and then spit it out. If you can't break down the food (bc you only have 8 teeth) then you gum it until its mush, and then spit it out. (example: Oranges or clementines) We just throw whatever we are eating on to your highchair tray, and you go to town. Only down side, you finish eating in minutes, and when you are done, you are DONE. You want out ASAP, and to get down on the ground to crawl around. Oh, and the mess, its everywhere.

You still nurse every few hours during the day, and go all night without nursing. This past week you were sick, and could not nurse. You would have thought that the world was over and we were starving you. Poor guy, you were so stuffed up that you could not nurse, and you hated it. Thankfully, your nose is a little more clear now, enough to nurse at least. Thank God! In the past month you bit me a few times while nursing (on accident of course;) and I had to tell you "ouch" and that it hurt. You got the hint pretty fast, and stopped.

Sleep these days is going pretty great. You are napping two times a day, and they are long! Morning nap is at least 2 hours, and afternoon nap is at least 3 hours! You go to bed at 7:30 or 8, and you are up by 530 (we won't count the two days you slept until 7:45AM, bc you were sick, and thats way too good to be true!!!!!!)

You love to blow kisses and raspberries to us. You say momma and dada and lots of grunts and squeals. Oh, and you growl when you get mad! You even make your face all red, and lay down on the ground and put your head down and cry. This almost always happens when big brother takes something away from you. Poor bubba. So hard. One day you will be able to walk and run, and get him back;)

Dance. Music. Two of your favorite things! You hear music, and your hips start moving. Then you clap. Its one of the cutest things ever. We just love watching you dance. Then you give us the "elvis lip" and we are all laughing:) You are just so cute!

Oh Austie, we love you so so much. Thank you for making everyone around you smile each and every day.

Love you always-

"The Perfect Tree"

Today was the annual Moore Family Christmas tree day! We headed up the mountain around 9am to beat the crowds again, and so baby could take a little nap. Since the poor guy was sick and we were already at the ER at 6am, he needed to sleep! (explains why my hair looks the way it does!) It was a nice ride, and there were barely any cars on the road.

We got to the farm, and were the only 2 cars there...and by the time we left, it was almost full! We headed out to find "the perfect tree" as Gavin says. We looked and looked, and finally found it. Its HUGE, but according to the boys, its perfect. It was so nice and sunny...a bit chilly with the wind, but it warmed up fast.

Gavin also got to cut his own tree down! He found "his" perfect tree, and sawed it down himself. Pretty cute. He also sawed each and every tree stump he came across...he loved that hand saw!

When paying for the tree, daddy bought some homemade tamales and salsa to eat when we got home...it was perfect.

Cincinnati Ma got the entire tree (and house) decorated for Christmas, and everything looks great! Thanks Mom! (I spent the day with sick baby on my chest)

First trip to ER

Oh poor bubba. He has just been so sick! It all started 2 weeks ago when Gav had a cold. He was mildly sick for a day, and then back to normal. Then bubba got it, and was not well for a few days. Then I got it, and got mastitis on top of it (bc Austin was not nursing at all while sick) so it was a terrible few days. Then I was all better, Gavin had been better, but poor Austin just got worse. Then today I finally took him in to the ER (his peds urgent care did not open til 10am). We were seen right away, in and out in an hour. I had a feeling that he had something secondary going on, like an ear infection. Diagnosis: ear infection and laryngitis. Poor bubba! His voice is so so hoarse...he sounds so sad.

On top of all the snot everywhere, he has been vomiting up snot when he coughs too...so so sad! He started his first course of antibiotics today, and we are praying that it kicks in fast so he can feel better.

Of course this all happens when mom is in town! I feel terrible, but then its like it was meant to be. She took care of the kids (Thanks Dayle and mom!) for the entire day that I could not get out of bed from the mastitis. Thank God they were here!

Even though bubba has been sick, we have still be doing lots of fun stuff. Meeting Santa, shopping, garage sales, lots of playing, getting the Christmas tree, and a wagon ride to see all the Christmas lights. Pics to come once I am able to put baby down...for now he is a severe mommas boy, and wont leave my arms and chest.

As terrible as this illness has been, I remain thankful that it is just that. An illness that he will get through. One of my patients at work (same age as Austin) just got her heart transplant after waiting 7 months...its great news, but also reminds me of what I need to be thankful for.

St. Nick 2012

St. Nick came tonight! After dinner and soccer practice, he rang the doorbell and dropped off the boys stalkings filled with toys. Gavin was in heaven with all the pez, and Austin loved to play with everything. I remember St. Nick being so much fun, and we are so happy that Cincinnati Ma was here to celebrate (and make it happen:)
