Gavin's surgery update

Last Tuesday Gavin went in to have his tonsils and adenoids out. They were causing trouble and the major issue was snoring at night. He was so ready for his surgery, and was not nervous one bit. I was, on the other hand, a mess. Even though I know what to expect, I was very nervous.

We handed him off to the surgeon at 7:30am and he was done at 8:30. He recovered nicely, and besides a few tears when he woke up, he was ok. We brought him home by 11, and he proceeded to eat a ton that day. Probably because he had so much pain medicine in him!

The past week has been rough. It was ok a few days, then got worse and worse until he was in a lot of pain. He got to have a ton of ice cream and anything liquid that he wanted. Slowly the past 2 days he has felt a bit better and is able to eat his favorite, Eggo waffles. I need to soak them in butter, syrup and milk, but he doesn't care because they are soft and he can eat them!

He has been out of school for the whole week now, but we are going to try to go tomorrow for a few hours. He thinks he is up for it.

Thanksgiving was in the middle of this recovery, so it was not the best one for Gavin. We made a huge dinner here, but he only had one bite of pie, yams, and ice cream. It was a start.

Austin has been out of sorts since we have been cooped up at home. He has SO much energy, but nowhere to put it...so its been tough.

We can't WAIT until the 14 day mark hits and Gav can be active again!

Thankful as always for a healthy boy who is able to recover at home with us.
