{Austin 6 Months}

Dear Wild One,

You are wild. You are never still. You love the world, and can't get enough of it. You smile all the time, and are so interested in everyone and everything. You keep my very busy and very happy all the time.

Oh Austin, you could not be any more different than your brother was at this age...and yet so similar at the same time! You are such an easy baby, and are completely happy and content if you have a lot to watch and look at....and with your crazy brother around, you sure do. You are similar to your brother in that you are just as active (I think more) as he was at this age...almost crawling, and all over the place. You don't require as much attention as Gavin did, but that's because you have so much to entertain you.

We call you our little tornado because you don't sit still. You are twisting and bending all over the place. To hold you is a complete workout. We have to warn others who are holding you for the first time to "hold on tight" because you will just leap out of their arms. It really is a little insane.

You touch, grab, hold, and suck on anything you can get your little hands on. I am talking anything. You also started doing something your brother did at this age (and continued to do forEVER) and that is suck on the ground! You will be scooting around, and then notice a line or mark in the ground (bamboo floors) and you will touch it, study it, and then suck on it. So funny, and gross. Its that time again for NO SHOES ON IN THE HOUSE. Why? Oh that's right, the baby sucks on the ground;)

You have been (KNOCK ON WOOD) only waking up 2 times a night. I know, sounds like a lot, but its NOT. Not compared to 4-6 times. So we are holding tight that this will decrease soon, but we gave up on CIO(Cry It Out) long ago...it was too hard, and what we are doing now seems to be working. As I remember after we gave up on CIO with your brother, he eventually just grew out of waking up so many times...so our hope is as you get bigger you will wake less. We shall see.

I have been back at work now for almost 2 months. I have only been working on Sundays (12hr shift) and it has been so great. Its great to be back, and its great that you and your brother get to spend time with your daddy. I feel as grateful as ever that I am able to only need to work this small amount. I feel like I really have the best of both worlds. I could go on and on about this, but that's another post.

Your eating. You still nurse on demand 24/7. You usually go about 3 hours, and sometimes more or less. When you go to bed at 8pm, you will make it most nights until 3am. You started solids, and have had peas, sweet potato's, squash, apples, plums, avocados, banana, brown rice, rice cereal, and suck all over any raw fruit or veggie you can get your hands on. Gavin you a raw green pepper, and you thought that was so great to suck on. I am not sure it matters what goes in that mouth!

You are wearing cloth diapers about 90% of the day. Its going well so far. Maybe that's because you only go #2 about once a week...but either way, your rash has been gone.

Crazy that you only go #2 once a week. Almost "unheard" of for an EBF baby, so who knows! You are not constipated, and are very happy, so whatever!

Newest nickname (from big bro) is bubba. "Good morning BUBBA!!!" he says every morning to you:)

Adorable. You are just so so so so adorable. My heart melts every time I look at you and think of you. Your big brother loves you to a million pieces, and you smile SO big when you see him.

Love you lots baby Austie!!!

Love-
Momma
