Bookworm Gavin

Gavin LOVES to read. Always before nap and bedtime and then a million other times a day if we are home. He has some pretty big favorites right now, and wants to only read these.

He got Opposnakes as a baby, and has been reading it for a while. I will say one page, and then he will say the opposite and open it. He loves it. He also loves snakes!

The next is Big Wheels. We checked this one out at the library, and this is one of the first books that he has liked to follow the story to. I read the first half of the sentence, and he finishes it. I know its from memorization, but its amazing that he can practically read the book! He "reads" what each truck does, and how they do it. Amazing.

Next is I'm Dirty! Another find from the library....and its GREAT for a little boy who loves to get dirty AND bulldozers! He is so calm when i read it, and really pays attention. He even laughs at the funny parts.

Last but not least is Truckery Rhymes. This book is Gavin's absolute favorite book in the world! This book is only ready before bed, and only by Daddy. He says "Daddy do it better" if I try to read it...Daddy knows it better, even has it memorized:) The book is all nursery rhymes about the trucks from trucktown. Here is a review that explains it well:

Truckery Rhymes is a compilation of all your favorite nursery rhymes … with a truck-themed twist. The book jacket calls them “rowdy rhymes” and “honk-along songs” in “one big, noisy, high-octane collection.” Each rhyme features a Trucktown friend and is more clever than the last.
Take this Trucktown rendition of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” out for a spin and see what you think.
“Rumble, rumble, Monster Max.

Can you jump those junkyard stacks?

Up above the trash so high,

Like a rocket in the sky.

Rumble, rumble, Monster Max.

Yep, he jumped those junkyard stacks.”

Gavin will read this book with Daddy from front to back, and name each truck along the way. Dad does not even have to read the words anymore, its all memorized:) I have not yet checked, but if this author makes any more books, we need to get them! Gavin loves all the trucktown trucks!
