First Class @ Saratoga Springs

Today was your Gavin’s first class at Saratoga Srpings. This place is not as deep “in the woods” as the last, and it was so much fun! There is a HUGE sand box, creek, picnic area, and of course the “Bunny Hill.”

Gavin went on a creek hike with Teacher Jane, and took off down the creek. He wanted to go under the bridge, and was not phased AT all when he fell in the water...THREE times! He was completely soaked, and he did not care one bit. This is a HUGE change for Gavin...he usually will not be in wet clothes for more than 10 seconds, and he used to cry when he got wet...now he just says, "Davin fall, all wet, IT HAPPENS!" Hahaha I guess we say that a lot, "It happens!" Gavin and Teacher Jane are best buds. He loves her so much, and wants to show her everything. He takes her hand and talks to her about what he is doing. It is a very sweet little relationship. What is even more sweet to me is that Teacher Jane had this relationship with Gavin's daddy 30 years ago...she really is just so good with the kids, and they love her.

Gavin went “fishing” with Ryan, played in the sand with Evelyn and Emma and LOVED the famous “Bunny Hill” that DADDY went down when he was Gavin’s age!!! It is basically a steep hill, and you climb up it holding on to the tree roots that are exposed. Then at the top you get to slide down on your bottom underneath all the tree roots. Kinda hard to explain, and of course I did not get a picture. Gavin loved it, and went up and down a few times. There are parents and teachers stationed all along it so no one can fall off…I, of course, did not climb it, and will not until I am not pregnant, its STEEP!

Gavin got his first school boo-boo today too. He stuck his finger in a hole that he could not get it out of…some sort of metal ring (used for camping equipment or BBQ’ing?). Once he realized it was stuck, I saw the fear in his eyes and the screaming started. I ran to him and tried my best, but his finger was sure stuck. We were too far from our stuff to even think about running to get soap or lotion…so I just said one, two, tree and pulled! OUCH, it was a little cut up, but ok. He was very shaken up…so were some of the other moms, HA! J They obviously don’t have children that have ALWAYS STUCK THEIR FINGERS IN ANY SORT OF HOLE! Gavin at 2 has yet to learn his little lesson! Finger is fine, and I checked with the doctor to make sure he did not need an extra tetanus shot…as it was a very rusty pipe! Since he had his shot already, he is in the clear…I will remind him next week about the hole, although I am sure he will remind me! He has told EVERYONE about his ouchie.

We had a blast at Saratoga Springs today, and can’t wait for next week…Gavin was asleep in 3 minutes!
