Gavin's first field trip!

Today Gavin had his very first field trip! We went to the Alma Helitack Fire Station in Los Gatos. It is right next to the mountains and the beautiful lexington reservoir. We pulled up, and my first thought was if I was going to be a fire fighter, this would be the dream location!

Gavin helped pick out his outfit this morning (like every morning) and HE picked out his firetruck shirt! I was so amazed that he did this, and then he told me "Davin get on firetruck!" (We have been talking about this field trip since last week when we found out) He was set with his firetruck shirt, and one in the bag just in case this one got wet/dirty.

Right when we got to the station, Gavin was BFF with the firemen. He walked right up to them and started talking to them...asking to go in the firetruck....and then asking for stickers they were handing out. All the firefighters loved him as he was the only one talking and being social with them:) This boy is opposite of shy sometimes!

The kids got to tour the station, tour the truck, listen to the siren, squirt the fire hose (his favorite!), see the helicopter, sit INSIDE the helicopter, see the helicopter take off (another favorite), see the firehouse pets (goldfish), have snack/lunch on the fire station lawn, and have story time about firetrucks.

Again, Gavin was not shy when it came to doing the things the fireman asked. When the fireman would say "Does anyone want to sit in the firetruck?" Gavin was already at his feet. Gavin was the first to do all the activities, all the others were a little shy and needed their parents help....instead of G needing guy help, he told me "No mama, fireman do it!" when he needed help. OK with me!!!

All the kids had a great time, and so did the parents! This place was beautiful, and the work they do is amazing. These firefighters jump from the helicopter to put out fires/rescue people....they are very brave...and they were so sweet with the kids. Looking forward to our next field trip!
